Business visibility in Claude starts with information that can be read, understood, and checked. When Claude uses web search, it can include sources in its answer. Website work aims to present clear business information that could serve as a relevant source, without guaranteeing that the engine will select it.

At NexTarget, we examine both what is said about the business and the basis for it. Does the answer mention a service you actually provide? Has an important condition disappeared from the explanation? Does the cited link really support the claim? These questions are more useful than the mere appearance of a name.

Finding a source and reading a link are different situations

According to Claude's help center, web search allows the system to use current sources and include citations. When search is enabled, a page URL can also be supplied with a request for Claude to read and analyze it. This capability is called Web fetch.

This leads to two separate tests: whether Claude finds business information from an open question, and whether it correctly understands a page it was given. Successfully reading a supplied link does not prove that a customer unfamiliar with you will reach the same page. It can, however, help identify unclear explanations.

Build a page that helps people compare and decide

Imagine a customer asking to compare two service types. If one page explains the work stages and another presents only slogans, they provide different amounts of usable information. This illustrates a content need, not a promise that a particular engine will favor one page.

Explain whom the service is for, what it includes, what depends on a suitability assessment, and which details are needed for a proposal. Illustrative examples can be added as long as they are clearly not customer stories. Keep a limitation beside the relevant explanation rather than in a distant note.

This creates content that can stand on its own even when only part of it is read. The AI content and copywriting service can help with wording, order, and hierarchy, with human review of every business claim.

Check access according to each crawler's role

Anthropic's documentation distinguishes Claude-SearchBot, used for search; Claude-User, which accesses content following a user request; and ClaudeBot, which collects content that may contribute to training. These are different uses, so access decisions should also be informed and separate.

A technical review can establish whether the website blocks access you intended to allow or whether important content is unreadable. This is not a recommendation to open internal documents or disable protections across the board. Address the relevant public pages and their policies, without assuming that training permission guarantees search visibility.

Check the citation as well as the answer

A source link makes it possible to check a description, but does not make every sentence correct. Open the cited page to see whether it supports the claim, whether the information is current, and whether service terms were lost along the way. When an old external source appears, a website correction alone may not immediately correct the picture.

Also record cases where Claude relies on information the user entered. This is not the same test as independently discovering the business online. The guide to generative engines explains why distinguishing different information sources matters.

Define an improvement you can evaluate

Start with one service page and a group of questions where accuracy matters: audience suitability, workflow, or differences between solutions. Keep the test conditions consistent and examine over time whether the description becomes more accurate and whether sources fit the question.

Not every answer needs to be turned into a marketing success. The goal is to understand what information is missing and what can be improved on the website. A NexTarget demonstration can help examine the starting point and define a direction for further review.
